Hi All,

How can i post photos from "Picasa" in Clubsnap forums, Insert image is not working if i place the URL.

Thanks,
Sachin

anyone?

Actually my flickr limit is over for this month.. so cannot upload photos to flickr to post on Clubsnap, so checking if we can post images from picasa.:(..

I wrote about it some time back, but admittedly it's hard to find this info. Here it is:

It's a little tedious to link photos from Picasa, you need to do this:

1. On the menus on the right when viewing your photo, look for "Link to this photo", click on it to expend the menu.

2. Select the size you want to embed, eg. 400px.

3. Copy the HTML code under "HTML to embed in website". It should look something like this:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/genghk/RandomStuff/photo?authkey=blDdICSftxU#50949011611218XXXXX"><im g src="http://lh5.google.com/genghk/RrS5nLJkLjI/AAAAAAAACEM/l5dSG8cdVO4/s400/IMG_XXXX.JPG" /></a>
However, all you need is the second string of "http://lh5.google.com/yadayadayada...". What I do is copy the whole chunk from Picasa first, then paste it into CS's "Insert image" dialogue box, then trim it down to just what's between the second set of quotation marks. That should do the trick for you.

If you link photo from Picasa, it will only work for a very short period of time. My past experience in linking photo to ClubSNAP, after a few hours I was told by fellow CSer that all photo were missing. Now I using Photobucket and so far no missing photo. Phoobucket is free.

Cheers.

No that's not true, my old photos from Picasa are still up all the way from 2 years ago. It's just that Picasa's way of managing the web albums is not very flexible, so if you link the photo (to CS or any other site), and make any changes that would affect the exact location name of the photo (such as move it to another album, or even something simple like edit the name of the album it is in), the link will be broken. You'll then have to relink it again.

I do not do any of above and the link was broken, try to search the forums other have the same problems. When other CSer keep telling you no pictures but you still can see the pictures on your PC and you know something is wrong. After a few hours, the link of the pictures from Picasa to CS was lost on my PC. It was not too nice to post photo on CS and few hundreds of CSer open the thread and find all missing photo inside.

Cheers.

Hmm... did a search with CS search and also through Google, but it's a bit difficult to find examples of this issue in particular. If different people are having the same problem, then it's probably indeed a Picasa bug. I'm lucky not to kena then....

Anyway, I've stopped linking photos from Picasa for other reasons, it's pretty ok for a free service, but it's still no fight for the paid ones.

Hi Gengh, I'm using Picasa to manage most of my photos but I've found it more difficult to post them on CS compared to, say, Photobucket.

As to your "Link to this photo", I can't even find it on the Picasa 3! Care to explain more as to where to find this function... a step-by-step guide? :embrass:

Thanks a million!

Oh, you're referring to the Picasa 3 software? You can't do it from there, you still need to upload it to Picasa Web Albums, then link it from the web albums.

Anyway, I took a look at my Picasa Web Albums today (haven't really used it for a while), and realised that some details have changed. Did a very quick step-by-step since you suggested it. But frankly, it's much less confusing now since they've made the link a simple one that you can just copy and paste.

Hope that's clear now.

Ahhh~ this sure helps a heap! I'll go try and test it out, I hope it's faster than Photobucket this time! Thanks again for your step guide!

Thanks for various useful info. I would like to know, will photobucket remove several photos after one year? I am not sure about this. I forgot long time ago, before I'm into more hobby photography, I use to upload some photos to friends in a site (forgot which one....) but after one year the site ask to pay some $$ if not they will remove the photos. Thanks

I just had this problem too, and tried a few things. This is what I discovered and hopefully will help others with it:

1. When you open the page to the image, it will normally show a smaller version of the full pic. I haven't encountered any problems linking with this picture (... yet, but who knows)
e.g.
img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_YgdmuzKaq1M/Sj0XBvptnpI/AAAAAAAAJk0/6N1_0j7VCBo/s512/P1110473.jpg"

2. If you click on the zoom button, you will find that it links to a bigger picture just one directory higher (in this case, take out the /s512 ). This is the picture which will normally give problem. I think it's due to some caching mechanism in Picasa/Google. It will work 50/50.. and even if it's a broken link, if you refresh a few times, it may work again. Sometimes if I press enter then refresh again, it might work.

That's why the actual link copied from the Picasa itself (as described by Gengh), will normally work (it uses the smaller picture, and then links it to actual Picasa webpage to open up larger image).
