One would think that Photokina is a pure trade show. Apart from equipment and accessories Photokina this year has dedicated large areas for galleries and clubs and NGOs to showcase themselves. Had a real eye-opening time going through mainly European works and understanding their perspectives .... many hobbyists, students, performers and thrill seekers
Folks were very friendly and curious about us Asians and especially about Asian photography.... we had alot of laughs finding plenty of similarities between Europeans and Asians..... for example , the BUY BUY BUY fever is also very prevalent in Europe ha ha
We also shared alot about unique places in Asia where few Western tourists go to..... and we received tips and advise on equally untrodden locations in Europe
Freedom of speech the encouragement of expressions is absolutely alive and well in Europe
Heard too that street photography and people photography are very sensitive topics in Europe due to their laws on privacy
