It is well worth the $1750 to get 200-500mm as compare to prime lens @: 200mm ($1~2k) 300mm ($2k~7.8k) 400mm ($9k~10k) 500mm ($10~12k) Although the aperture is f6.3 @ longer end...but increase the ISO will solve this problem if u are using CMOS sensor...

But so far very few review on the tamron, let alone a 1-to-1 comparo. also, bigma's actual max focal length is only 465mm, while tamron is 486mm. hence still cannot decide yet.
