The Photographic Society of Singapore (PSS) was founded in 1950 with the objective of promoting the practice and appreciation of photography. It provides a platform for Singapore photographers to showcase their works internationally encourages exhibitions and conducts courses and workshops for aspiring photographers. It also organizes events such as 'World Camera Show' and 'Photo & Imaging Asia', for the photography industry to converge and showcase latest trends in photography.

Over the years, PSS's objective has not changed, as it continues to keep itself relevant in supporting professional, amateur and student photography. Today, PSS has more than 2,000 members, and is an active corporate member of The People's Association, as well as being an operational member of the prestigious 'International Federation of Photographic Art'.

PSS is also concerned about the well being of the community and has initiated projects and publications such as, "Harmony of Minds" and "Birds in the Garden City", which use photography to raise funds for the needy. Beneficiaries included the President's Challenge, Dover Park Hospice, and the SMRT Silver Tribute Fund.
