good day everyone.

i am applying for DPA ( Direct Poly Admission ) this coming July,
and i have to choose 3 different courses. and of course i wanna go into
those that has got to do with Photography, so i can deepen my world of Photography. :)

does anyone knows what courses has Photography in the course?
i mean has relations with Photography?
other than Visual Communication which im planning to go to (:)

thank you. :D

Dun go poly. Go do MFA(masters in fine arts) if u really want to erm study photography??

So, maybe u might wanna consider places like NAFA.

Unfortunately, there is no photography course in poly. Jus doesn't make economical sense. They will end up over producing photographers n these grads will be rendered jobless.... Not that photography cannot make $$, but it is smth which can be self taught, so yea.

All the best! Good luck!

On a sidenote, your focus now should really be doing well for prelims n O levels. Dun pin all your hopes on DPA. The chances are slim, real slim. So, your best bet? STUDY HARD n SMART;)

woah. those places like NAFA are damn too expensive. haha.
yeap, i wouldnt really depend on DPA. but its just a tryout, who knows it helps :D

alright. thanks. :)

i really think you should go to lasalle / napfa regarding to cost if you really want to pursure a study in photography.

laselle or nafa.. gogo!

Temasek poly is much better than laselle or Nafa for photography.

General diploma like Vis Comms doesn't offer photography in depth. If you want to study photography, then you have to go to specialised institutions. :)

FMS, Not FMAS. FMS stands for Film & Media Studies. Focuses on photography.

FMS is a school not course. ;)

I doubt any of the courses offered by the school are in depth in photography. In depth meaning solely on photography alone.

Well, they have some courses on photography. I do know it's a department.

Did a quick check. Only the course Dip in Multimedia & Animation has a module on Digital Photography which is not under FMS.

FMS is more on video but no doubt is about the same concept but if really want to learn photography, like many had said go for BA, BFA or MFA in photography. You will learn from traditional darkroom all the way to the digital world.

yeap. i just did a check too on NP's website. and its more on video and stuffs.
maybe its good too? :D

well, since ive got 3choices to make in the DPA, i planned,

1) Visual Comm at TP
2) Visual Comm at NYP
3) Mass Comm. not sure which poly yet. any suggestions? :)

I must highlight what everyone's been trying to hint. its not the technical aspect of photography that makes photos sell. its the fine arts aspect.

just look at it this way, all the colour matching, composition and styling has got zero to do with the camera. this things have been studied for time in memorial as an art. the best fit in my opinion would be to do a fine arts course. get your basics right then talk about photography, because photography is just very technical imo.

I'm not saying this course is 100% right for you, but I recommend you get in touch with them, state your interest and see if you can get someone to talk to you. They might be able to share more insight with you.
