Hi everyone, we would like volunteers to help out in an event for raising funds for Myanmar aid.

Please kindly look into this thread.

A group of us from CS formed the Photoaid group in 2004 that raised funds for the Tsunami victims, and again we are doing a similar event for the Myanmar victims. Even if you are not able to volunteer, please show up with your family and friends for memorable photos taken and donate for a just cause and support fellow CSers that are involved in the event.

All donations are 100% to the Salvation Army.

hey guys and gals, lets make this happen

if you can't spare the time, come down and have your picture taken and donate

100% of the proceeds goes to the Salvation army, which has a group already inside myanmar

Appeal for Help

The outpouring of human kindness is most evident and natural in events of major disasters.
The destruction wrecked by the recent Cyclone Nargis on the people of Myanmar, though
not as serious as the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami in scale, is still a catastrophic natural
disaster by any measure in modern history. International agencies have scrambled to bring
aid to those who are still suffering, but have met with much difficulties. Singapore may be far
away from those suffering in Mynamar, but in the very much connected world we have
today, we're never too far away. Many Singaporeans have since made contributions, and are
continuing to do so.

Many will think that when facing calamities of such scale, there's little that the individual on
the street can do. We don't seek to accomplish great acts of charity or bring about salvation
to all of mankind - such tasks are too big for reasonable consideration given a small group of
people.

Everyone has his/her own priorities in life and it's impossible to wield such energy so as to
mobilize huge masses of people to be involved in this. What we ask for is a little bit of your
time, or money, because by accumulating small amounts of contribution, we can together
achieve a bigger result, than when we do it alone. Let's give community spirit a chance for it
will help us multiply this result.

Why Salvation Army

In all charity drives, donors will always first ask ''who are we donating to, and why?''

Choosing Salvation Army as the channel to help the disaster victims is never based on
personal/religious/commercial reasons, it is based on a strategic decision. The Salvation Army
has been well established in this region, and all over the world. http://www.salvationarmy.org.sg/

Salvation Army has an operational headquarter in Myanmar since 1915. Their operations will
undoubtedly face less obstructions than many other NGOs and foreign governmental
organizations without establishment within Myanmar.

When you donate to Salvation Army,

Quote: 100% of your donation will be sent to The Salvation Army in Myanmar to victims of
Cyclone Nargis. ( http://www1.salvationarmy.org/myanmar )

We believe that by choosing to direct funds raised in PhotoAid to Salvation Army, we can
help maximize the efficiency of the donations.

It Doesn't Take Much.

Photo Aid essentially is an initiative by photography enthusiasts to contribute to charitable causes.

We take pictures for tourists and visitors at Merlion Park, have them printed on the spot and collect a minimum donation of S$10 for each successful print made.

The core group of volunteers will be directing the entire setup, consisting of a shooting point, and a printing point.

We need volunteers to help us set up the equipment at the start of the day and take them down at the end of the day.

We need volunteers to help us pose tourists and visitors and photograph them with the given setup.

We need volunteers to monitor the printing of the photographs and collect the donations for each print made.

We need volunteers to explain the objective of the activity to tourists and visitors who may have doubts.

The tasks are simple and undemanding, we're essentially doing what we're good at for a charitable cause. For those who wish to contribute beyond donating cash, we only ask for a few hours on a weekend. The combined effort of people in this community will allow us to forward a little bit of contribution to the victims of the disaster.

should any members have queries regarding the event or the work involved, feel free to drop questions here as well :)

C'mon volunteer for a good cause.

model organisers can organize your shoots at the merlion? Help out the less fortunate.
