Hi,
I have been to genting for several time, but not for once I have bring it out to outdoor. Afriad of condensation on body and lens.

Am thinking of doing so in the coming trips...
This is my 'plan' to risk/prevent condensation.
1. Once I taken the body+lens out of the camera bag, I will take shots....without attempts to put it back to bag till all shots are completed.
2. When the shooting seesion is over, I supposed the temperature of the camera will be of almost the same of outside temp.
3. Then I will put everything back to the bag, without detact the lens...
4. The bag will not be open till next morning... supposed the body+lens will 'heated' to room temp, without causing any condensation at all....

Will this helps?

once you been to colder countries, genting is nothing already.
if you really feel unsure just bring a compact there to try out.

no problems with my compact the last time round there, and not as cold as expected.

Hi ortega & Simon,

Thanks for the assurance:)....My concern is not lot batt, but rather fugrus in long time...
how long are you gonne shoot in Genting? shoot until the fungus grow on the lens?

don't worry so much lar, if like that might as well keep your camera in door.

condensation will not grow fungus, if you store your camera in high humidity, than there is a change for fungus to grow.

The room and outdoor temperature is pretty similar coz their rooms does not have air-conditioning hence condensation is minimal. :D

Hi

No worry la... belive it or not, bring my camera and lens to Singapore Snow City, inside there is about -5C, for 1 hour, then I just trick it by putting back the camera and lens into the aluminium foil bag (u can purchase it at Carefour) and seal it tightly before come out from the cool chamber, then just leave it the camera until i reach home, no worries, no condensation, no fungus, no fogs etc until today. Put into the aluminium foil bag will bring up the temperature slowly the will not cause condensation..

some trik I use to bring my cam to china during winter season, it about 2 - 3 degree... no worry at all ..

So Genting ? ha.. nothing lah... just enjoy your shooting, no worry, Genting event not reach 10C

Cheers
Phil :)

I have brought my stuff in and out of the Genting Hotel during last X'mas. Stay there for 3 nights. Was shooting everyday both indoor and outdoor.

Actually didn't know that i need to take precaution like what you mentioned. In any case came back home, did some cleaning and kept it in the dry cabi. Everything seems ok.

fungus don't occur so easy one unless your equipment has been in the rain before...else no worries.

I went to Hokkaido recently. It was around -2 to -15degrees celsius. Walking into the building when camera is cold, no condensation occured. And the camera works fine, I did not try to protect it in anyway, like someone said only the battery life would take a hit.
