hi all, i need a little help here. we all know that there're MANY photo-editing softwares out there. so which is the best for the average photographer? has anybody done a comparison between the various softwares out there? and which is the most worth for money? thanks in advance for any advice given.

adobe CS2...worth the money to invest in it...

Go & download the Photoshop CS3 Beta and try out yourself.

Nothing comes close to Adobe Photoshop for image editing/manipulation. ;)

One of the best photo editing software is the Adobe Photoshop CS2 (or the new CS3) if you can afford it (cost about $1k+).

If not a much cheaper alternative would be its little brother, the Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0. While it does not have all the bell and whistle of CS2, it do have more than enough tools to keep most average photographers happy.

Photoshop for sure, most amount of room and space
Most of the other progs that I've tried just can't compare, and I just got mine yesterday only!

adobe photoshop...

else, can try download gimp. something like photoshop but not as user friendly as photoshop.
upon 10, i'll give gimp 7/10

GOogle picasa, something not so photo editing but fun to play around with.

there are a lot of softwares. but i'll just recommend this 3

*Ps* gimp is a freeware

don't u need a serial no. or something from CS2 before u can use the CS3 beta?

and thanks to roygoh and NeTHaCk for the freeware referral. very good for someone on a tight budget (like me) =D

can gimp and paint.net "read" the NEF files from Nikon D80?

CS2!
:( cant live w/o it.:bsmilie:

Huh, they ask for serial no. for Beta versions ar?
I downloaded the Adobe Lightroom Beta 4.1 n they never asked for serial no.

Anyway, u can seriously consider Lightroom also. It can do color tweaking, etc. But it cannot remove pimples from your subject's face, to put it simply. :)
