Harbin Winter Photography Workshop 21 - 23 January

Organized by the Beijing Center of Photography and led by Stefen Chow, adventurer and photographer who has climbed Everest and shot for many international magazines, this will be an intense photography workshop that will push your creative limits. It's also a great opportunity to hone your photography techniques and sense of aesthetics. Join us in this photographic challenge to capture the visual stories of Harbin. Stefen Chow will be assisted by Ian Robert Knight, Canadian Photographer.

What: Winter Ice Festival Photography Workshop

When: January 21-23, Friday - Sunday (3 Day - 2 Night)

Where: International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province

Why: Improve your photography skills and learn the art of visual story-telling under the guidance of Stefen Chow and Ian Robert Knight. Experience non-stop action of shooting, lectures, critiques, and intense editing over three days. Learn the necessary techniques for shooting in extreme cold conditions.

Recommended for serious amateurs or emerging professionals with a working knowledge of photography.


Details:

The Workshop costs 5800 RMB - approximately S$1,135
(4000RMB, approximately S$785 with no-flight option)

Fees include return flight from Beijing, hotel accommodations (twin sharing) on the nights of January 21 & 22, food and light beverages, transportation and festival ticket fees. Single rooms available at a supplement.

About Stefen Chow

Stefen's love for photography started in a way unlike any other - while conquering the peak of Mount Everest!

Since then, through his camera and eye, Stefen has explored the stories of ancient yet changing city of Beijing, the streets of New York, the hidden world of Hasidic Jews and many more.

Nikon recently named him the Singapore Nikon Professional from 2009 to 2012. Stefen has worked with the world's biggest media organizations such as Associated Press, Bloomberg News, the Wall Street Journal, China Foto Press, Asian Geographic magazine, Singapore Press Holdings, Keppel Corporation and Shell International.



About Ian Robert Knight

Ian Robert Knight has photographed more than 200 cities in almost 60 countries around the world. Among our team of instructors, he has the most experience under his belt. Ian specializes environmental portraits, travel documentary and photographic technology. He has been fortunate to witness the transition from film to digital, and has been training other photographers since the 90's.

Friday January 21

12:00 - Arrival and check in to Harbin hotel
12:30 - Lunch and opening lecture by Stefen Chow
14:00 - First practical session at the festival
18:00 - Dinner at local restaurant
17:30 - Review and Edit session at hotel
21:00 - Commentary by Stefen & Ian on daily results, and prep for Day 2
23:00 - Beers

Saturday January 22

08:00 - Breakfast at hotel
09:00 - Morning instructions and assignments by Stefen
09:30 - First Practical session at the festival
12:00 - lunch at local restaurant
13:00 - Quick review of results, and second assignments given
13:30 - Second Practical Session
16:00 - Editing and then review/commentary by Stefen & Ian
18:00 - Dinner & Evening Assignments
19:00 - Third Practical Session
21:00 - Edit and review/commentary by Stefen & Ian
