... Job credit for the employers
.... down goes the demand
..... cut in corporate tax
...... lower property tax
But up goes the petrol $$$$
Any justifications from the petrol companies?
There's no need to justify.
It's all economics.
Petrol companies' aim is to maximize profits, rather than being mandated to keep profit at the same level.
So as long as people are "willing", and able to buy at a certain price (i.e. no competitors slashing prices), and there's no public outcry of unfairness which could impede their long term profits, there's no need for them to decrease.
that lame duck can't do anything at all....
remember previously when ppl complained in the papers about petrol price increases our top ppl came out in defense of them..so bo pian...
good thing I only pump once a week.....
Can CASE do something about it?
Do what?
No one put a gun to one's head and tell say that u must drive. If you want to drive then pay the price... it's simple economics... and if do business must keep thinking of how to help those who cannot pay... then it's no longer a business but a charity.
U are also right!
So there is no need to have job credit, property debate and cut in corporate tax and let the free market run itself! If you cannot survive, you just close shop and drop dead!
I tot SPC is supposed to lead the company and hold the price. They are now also joining the fun and join the race to increase.
There was once when they did not increase and the rest to revert to their old price.
Is SPC willing to take the lead?
Can CASE do something about it?
your arguments don't link....
You want case to do something cos you are complaining about petrol increase but if you don't drive then you have nothing to complain about right? Don't know where the rest of the ramblings is about....

You are just simply being naive of failed to see things in broader perspective. Petrol price increase not only affect all car owners that most deemed as deserve the increase.
Petrol price increase send a ripple down to all businesses. All trucks, vans, buses, pickup are not for leisure. They are for running day to day task and thus will affect the economy of the country. The truck driver who delivers goods to the hawker will pass down the increase to the hawkers who will then pass down to the consumer. So, what you did mentioned here is just stupid argument without given much thoughts.:dunno:

Despite having taxed 7% GST, the govt collects $28 extra from each and every full tank of Shell Formula from every car owner visiting petrol station. A full tank of Shell Formula for a 1500cc car should cost the owner only $83.72 including 7%GST but instead the govt charges an additional $28 extra onto motorist receipt costing the owner a total of $111.72. That $28 paid extra is a govt added charges of 0.40 cents per litre of petrol X 70 litre full tank 1500 cc car, and this is a hefty 33.44% ($28X100/$83.72) added over and above the 7% GST already paid. Can we do nothing and just watch being ripped off during this difficult time?
The fact is we Singaporeans cannot do anything as we have hopeless opposition who failed to speak out and act for the people in the streets. We have 3 opposition as MPs drawing salary of S$15K a month from tax payer and what we got are a bunch of wayang.:thumbsd:
