Its an old prototype AFAIK.
IIRC, way back in 2000, Pentax already had a prototype for a FF SLR.
Too bad as with all things Pentax, they did the illogical, dragged their feet and got left behind in the DSLR wave.

This was the original FF prototype in 2000 that was based on the MZ - S but because the sensor used was from PHILIPS, it was very noisy and it did not take off. The only company that used that sensor is now no longer around. If you guys remember the Contax N1, that was its last camera before it went belly up.

If Pentax had used that sensor, there would not be a Pentax camera for us now.

Like what Felix had said.
If Pentax had gone ahead and launched that camera, Pentax would have gone belly up just like Contax. That Philips sensor, 6MP FF, is terrible.
