Pentax FF to come?

Maybe, maybe not. I don't really care. Just enjoy my K5, and the little G3 :) If Pentax FF comes, I probably will buy one on the first day when it's available here :)

Count me in the FF queue... :)

Same here, just hope it will bear fruit and be soon.
I'd buy it in an instant.

The mirrorless market is where it's all happening and where the cash is at the moment. Better for Pentax to focus on that first because they can't afford to lag behind again and repeat the mistake they made years ago when they allow C and gang to overtake them during the digital transition. These cash cows will allow them to build up their war chest. Once the chest is bountiful, they can move on to more specialised markets like FF. Just my take though. I won't be surprised there is a whole lot of pent up demand for FF from the hard core Pentaxians. And maybe Ricoh has the necessary resources to focus on 2 new markets afterall. :)

Start fastening my belt from now on;p

I'm not opting for FF until they reduce the size and price. The K5 as it is has already outperformed what I demand out of a hobby toy.. Of course it's not perfect and I will gladly welcome further improvement, but I would not be willing to spend too much either.

I won't want to be weighted down by a whole load of gear when scrambling around rocks during my phototrips.. With the 10-20, a light Cosina 19-35, 70-300 and 85 mm prime, walking around Taiwan's national parks and coast has been literally backbreaking.. Imagine the full weight of FF camera and equivalent lenses..

Who knows...the 645D`s smaller brother at the price of a FF camera.

I doubt I'll be interested in a FF Pentax. After getting my NEX 5N, I find that I hardly take my K5 out anymore. I can use most of my beloved lenses with a small/light body albeit with some compromises.

What I really want for Christmas is a Pentax/Ricoh GXR2 with a 24MP APS-C Exmor sensor, a K-mount module, flash hotshoe, tilt/swivel LCD and built-in 2.4 MP OLED EVF. That way, its compatible with all my Pentax lenses and flashes. If they also have a smaller sensor module with a zoom lens that collapses flat, I might be able to get rid of my Canon P&S too. Will sell everything - K5, NEX, Canon... if they do.

i really gonna grab one if FF is released.
my idea body for the FF is the MZ-S. if PR or RP adopt the MZ-S design, that's wonderful as the handling is superb.
after using the ME on my K7 & K5 for so long...until i removed the ME recently, I found the view finder looks "small".

it interesting to see differing opinions on pentax FF. goes to show how the market trends have changed in the last 2-3 years. For myself, I dont really see the need for FF given the likely higher price and heavier weight.

I will rather pentax work on improving K-5 and bringing the price down which will most likely make me upgrade from a K-r. APS-C resolution is good enough for landscapes shots and for travel photography.

on the other hand, i do wish for a small camera like the pentax q or the ricoh gxr for everyday use but at a more affordable price. i still cant accept the fact that the pentax Q setup cost more than my K-r with kit lens.

my ideal setup is a compact, pocketable camera with good enough IQ at web size for daily use/street shooting and a DSLR for landscapes and travel shots.

i will actually fork out the money to support if pentax do come out with a FF dslr with similar philosophy that they had used in the recent camera (k-x, k-5)

i.e. they aimed to be the smallest FF possible without crippling their features, best bang for buck in the FF market, in-body IS, class leading build/ergo and WR.

maybe i am dreaming liao. hahah

I will join you guys at the front of the queue too

Imagine a pentax version of NEX in WR body and 24mp Exmor (or more ex?) sensor with high FPS and fast AF.... I will be selling my K5 too!

What has this got to do with FF ? :dunno:

Agree.

actually if sony comes up with a Full Frame NEX system, I can put my full frame pentax lens on it with adapter anyway, (manual focus only then)

compared to Pentax Full Frame DSLR, I guess Sony will come out with a Full Frame NEX system first.

You are working on the assumption that it will be cheap. Which it will not be.

If I pay that sort money for any FF body, it better work fully AF, A mode and all.

I thought people buy full frame mainly for the shallow depth of field, cheap wide angle lens, as that may be major things APSC cant give.

but NEX full frame may be cheaper than the Pentax, Canon, or Nikon's full frame, as it targets more for consumers.

by the way, NEX system also can use those range finder lens and those ancient under-used FD, MD manual lens without losing optical performance, provided that you are willing to give up the fast AF, A mode, and rest.

but you get one full frame camera with freedom to use any good, cheap, modern, ancient, dusty lens. and you still have choice to use fast mordern AF lens with everything automatic and fast. (provided it is relative cheap, half price of what Canon or Nikon charges.)
