Cool! Love this!

genius! just looking at the picture is making my neck hurt cos it feels like its bent backwards to look up. nice shot. (am i allowed to say nice?) err interesting angle.
any ps?

Nice! I like the way the clouds act as the backdrop. A little more sky would be perfect.

And it looks as though the smaller tree was growing from the tree stump. (???)

thanks guys for the comments :)

Antifruits: it's ok, you have the right to say what you want. was taking RAW format for the first time (wanted to know the output quality) so chose my subjects rather carefully. the sky and the tree were separately processed to enhance the saturation and colours, the amount of details is brilliant, so no sharpening done.

live 33: thanks, will check the composition again, its a complete tree, two of the main branches were sawn off, leaving the other (at the back) thus the illusion of a small branch growing out of a stump. i believe the tree is dead, it has been standing like that for months already, thus the title ;)

I find the shot too straight forward. Is it posssible to have shot it further away and not bottom up?

nope. not with an ugly green railing running behind. a further position reduces the proportion of the cut surface, which is actually used to anchor the picture.

I like how the two stumps in the foreground creates a strong 'base' for the tree.
Love the wideness!

thanks ... hmmm ... it's not very wide you know? only kit lens

i like the subject, esp in contrast to the beautiful sky bg.

i would call this picture, "speakers corner"!!! :bsmilie:

Not the lens wide, the perspective is wide hehehe
 so eikin no need 12-24 liao now :D

did you take just one shot? is there any other angle?
i agree with Splutter that it's a straight forward shot.
I think the composition dont really work...looks odd...making it boring to look
at the 2nd time.
you could try to be cinematic with your perspective if you have the space to shoot.
The 2 thing that is nice for the pict is the colour n light.

thanks for the feedback.

this is the only shot i did, although i try to frame it from different angles the rest just don't give me sufficient reasons to press the shutter button. :)
