Any one one into panoramic photo, can share some experience on the hardware/sw requirement.

Thinking learning how to take those 'grand' view scene and those with QTVR.

Digital? film? How wide in terms of angle of view are you looking at? What's your budget?

Digital (does it matter if it is film or digital?)

360 deg (for QTVR - I guess this does not matter also, if you can take wide and rotate, any angle also can.) Muti-row multi -column.

for USD800 I can get the the RRS head - so am looking for not exceeding UDS800.

Software - any one to recommend??

It does matter between digital and film but since you decide digital, the software listed above are good.

For a 360 degrees view via QTVR, the software should be fine. The RRS head is needed in indoors where the camera needs to pivot over its nodal point to eliminate the sections not joining (forgot the exact technical term).

The choice between film and digital dictates the type of hardware you'd be using. There are purpose built film panoramic cameras.
