Hi guys, I'm going to Japan next month, and I'm considering to buy a camera over there.

Tz7 is currently selling for $599 (was $649) at Best denki, price has dropped perhaps because Tz10 is out.

Whereas
kakaku.com has listed 23800Yen for Panasonic Tz7

http://kakaku.com/item/K0000017813/

Is it as straight forward as walking into the shop as listed, pay 23800yen ($380) and get the camera? Or is there any other issues that I should be watching out for.

Warranty might be an issue. And the manual might be in Japanese.

Price in the smaller camera shops definitely cheaper than that the price in BD. And if you take into account the value of the freebies, it'll go even lower.

Suggest you enquire at the usual shops you hear of on CS and decide for yourself whether the difference in that price and your Jap price is worth it for local warranty.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've just checked with a friend who's in Japan.
He mentioned that the model I'm looking for has only Japanese interface and not English.

On 2nd thoughts, I suddenly have this thinking.
The successor (Tz10) to Tz7 will be out soon, unless the Tz7 is going for a very good price (less than $400), else assuming $600 to $650 for a Tz10 is not too bad too?

I have been running around, and Tz7 is actually sold out and will be replaced by Tz10 soon, there won't be any local "clearance price".

Soon, it will be IT show at Suntec, will take a look.

Thanks guys.
