1. in what area is critique to be sought?
Exposure

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
Exposure and separation with background.

3. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
It was a low light condition in the Garden, I am not sure about exposure, but few of my friends told that its bit underexposed :( . I also think that Orchids use to grow in bunches, so isolating a flower alone is almost impossible.

The colour and composition is nice but maybe a little underexposed. Maybe you could try taking from another angle to hide away the other buds and get more separation? Good luck:)

maybe try cranking up the saturation/vibrance.
a square composition would be nice.

the orchid is slightly unexposed.

to have separation between the subject and background, beside focusing, can be done by using Complementary color also.

since you are at the orchid garden, you have plenty flowers to choose from, find a one which you able to isolate it.
