....can tell that you are not happy about this survey ......... :bsmilie:

Not quite the same.

The "unhappiest" one is a survey based on 5 questions posed to PEOPLE.

The "happiest" one tracks social media sentiments and mentions that:

Despite recent complaints, the majority of Singaporeans continue to build on the Singaporean dream of self-actualisation, meritocracy, safety, and efficiency in society. The youth is particularly vocal during festive periods and special occasions, express their encouragement, and share pictures as a means of connecting with each other.

Of course the 2 polls can end up with very different conclusions!

You ask 5 XMM if they think they are pretty, they will say no, because if not they will appear BHB. Then you track what they post on Instagram and conclude that they think they are very pretty because they keep making kissy pouty faces to the camera. :bsmilie:

Doesn't really matters does the poll claim S'porean are the Happiest or Unhappiest... what really matters is Are YOU Happy or Not...

Are you a Singaporean? If you are, then ask yourself if you are happy lor. How hard is that?

Then ask family if they are happy when you are at home.

Then ask your Singaporean colleagues if they are happy.

Then ask you Singaporean friends if they are happy.

Ask here and there, also will have a sample size of 30. Then you have your own answer lor.

So why are you happy?

Is Singapore that bad?

What is your reference?

Everybody will always have something to b*tch about... balanced by some good/happiness in their life...

Well... life goes on as normal if you're happy or not... the World don't stop spinning just because you are 'Unhappy'...

These kind of surveys based on just a couple of questions are quite meaningless & serve no real purpose, especially comparisons between different nationals. People are sometimes happy & sometimes unhappy, some are happy about this & unhappy about that, some are unhappy that people are happy & some happy that other people are unhappy etc The only people I know who are happiest & always laughing all the time are those in IMH :)

Happiness is a state of mind :)

Surveys are done by specialist survey companies.

These specialist survey companies expect to get paid by their client.

The client usually makes it clear by broad hints, indirectly or by their body language and tone of voice, what outcome is desired.

The specialist survey companies tailor the survey questions and framework, including when to ask, who to ask to achieve the desired outcome.

To further ensure the client will be pleased with the survey result, the data is analysed in such a way to skew the result accordingly.

Don't take survey seriously. It very much depend what kind of result you want to achieve. Happy is also very difficult quantify.

As Singaporean, do you know and can define happiness? Many associate food, having expensive HDB, wear branded goods and car to be happy. These are things not sort after by many else where. However, in some countries, having 3-meal a day is happiness.

We must look at ourself and rate it on our standard. I would like to say, if you belong to to upper section of the population, there isn't much to be unhappy being Singaporean. $ makes wonder here.

Some would say $ cannot buy health. Yes, not even if you are in Europe or any other nation.
