"Online media licensing undercuts the heart land's financial status"?

seriously... it's not even a protest. Singaporeans have taken complaining to the next level :bsmilie:

Undercuts Singapore's status as a financial hub??? Here's how much the financial institutions care about the "regulation":

oh i thought them bankers had a code of secrecy and silence.

regulator: tell us who is the account owner
bankers: ... ... ...

Anyone heading to Hong Lim Park to take some photos on Saturday for below? :)

The points of this Human Rights Watch are really laughable. Seems they don't understand much about economy.
Bankers will care about it, but in a different way: the more the government oppresses free speech and other side effects of democracy the less likely are any substantial changes to the economic frame conditions (rules and regulations) by any change in government. Which means in return: Singapore will remain a quiet small dot where money can grow and prosper and people are asked to sh*t up :) - perfect for bankers and their Precious.

Please do not underestimate the significance of this because it may be the start of a long march to regain heartland and restore power of heartlanders who have been squeeze to the peripheral by the elites.

It's time the voice of the heartland be heard.

May hundred flowers bloom. :)

Bankers are sinners whose grubby hands handle the money and the grease.

It's time we close all banks and return to a honest economy where we put our sweaty money in biscuit tins and under our pillows.

:)

A group called “Free My Internet” organised a black-out on Thursday to push for a withdrawal of the licensing scheme. They will also hold a protest at Singapore’s Hong Lim Park or the city-state’s version of London’s Hyde Park corner on Saturday.

will help meh?

Their action will strike fear in the power that be.

It's the people power that see the rise of hundred flowers.

I think you're going to see protesters passionate about the issue like this there: :)

There is no link between the new licensing scheme and SG's aspiration/status as a financial hub.

The words "heart land" in the thread title are misplaced. The licensing scheme does not relate to Singapore's heart land.
