Are there any laws governing online forums?
I.e. flame wars, etc...
I want to start a forum that enables free speech... mods will not ban or stop anyone from saying anything.

My server is based in US, so if I am not wrong, my website or anything on my server is governed by US internet law.

Do note, my forum is totally unrelated to photography so CS mods, you can chill.

Sorry, I meant free speech related to the forum topic...

sure or not?

than everyday your forum will be like a war zone, a person with right mind will not want to come in.

Hmm... it seems that you do not regard people to be civilised.
Don't people have any sense of self-restrain?

Well, in view of what you have brought up... perhaps I can think of this as a social experiment now... will be interesting to see how people react in an unmoderated forum...

You really need to check more forums then. When people can anonymously hide behind their keyboards, they will do and say as they want.

Oh, and be aware, if people post copyrighted materials on your forum, you will be chased by the US feds.

I recalled about a year or two ago that a forum member was shot by another member arsing from an argument in a forum in the States.

Personally, I think humans needs to be managed by T&Cs and Rules and regulations on or off the internet. :)

I was a former moderator of a rather large computer-related forum and I wonder how much chaos you will have without some strong moderation.

Other than copyright laws, Murphy's law is the only one that will apply: What can go wrong, will go wrong.

Good luck.

tell me, what a place is "bo chen hu" (no government) or lawless zone, what kind of people would like to hang around there? would you?

so the forum is forums.freefrag4all.com?

think might as well do donations better... rather than waste bandwidth for this kinda things... also dun cry foul when things happen... no rules doesn't really mean no rules... bo zheng hu doesn't mean zheng hu bo...
