On using Microsoft Access while on the move, please help!

Dear friends,

I have a friend who wants to use Microsoft Access while he is on the streets, ie to issue POs to his clients etc. He needs to have a database online or smth so that whenever he issues a PO, the number and relevant details are automatically updated online. His partners will also be using this system so he cannot have the numbering system done in his computer as then the serials will clash. It will need to be based on a central database.

Of course, having such info online is potentially dangerous and competitors might be able to access it and steal secrets as well as to corrupt the database. Security features would need to be state of art or at least better then a normal password or encrption.

Is this possible and how is it done? Any commercial companies able to do it? He does not mind paying to have it done.

Plenty around. Just look for IT Programmers or System Integrators.
What you need is a web based application with user authentication to update a database. Nothing too difficult. Shouldn't cost too much either unless the features are many.
