OM System Wow Camera

Ricohflex only believe in full frame which he predicted that when costs come down the world would be ff but apparently canon decided to milk the apsc market and also knowing full well that FF costs more to setup. As it is the new R7 and R10 bodies with R mount has only 2 kit lens available but more will come soon as is the norm for new cameras introduced. M43 is a mature system has tons of lenses to choose from vintage lenses to pro lenses.

Still the new apsc cameras with R3 style autofocus and procapture equivalent feature plus 4k video in c-log plus microphone and headphone jack plus 2 SD cards for R7 competes directly with om1 and pundits will argue that apsc sensor is bigger 32mp and therefore has better low light performance to -5ev. But the evf sucks or rather used a not high res evf like om1.
But for the money it's hard to beat in all honesty. So hope omds introduce an affordable camera soon.

Canon R7 camera porn...geared for wildlife.

Look at the R7 autofocus screen..woohoo!

Canon is going WOW too. Hope with this, OM-S allows that Procap L to all the other lenses by their partners.

The Canon R10 is low end but positioned at a certain price point.
How is this relevant in a MFT thread?
Because Canon wants to make R10 so cheap that it brings a NEW buyer into the Canon RF system.

Thus forever cutting off the route to MFT for many NEW buyers.
This is very wise of Canon.
When the NEW buyer flourishes in his career and can afford more, he is already in the RF system and can consider R7, R6, R5, R3 and R1.

So MFT is a threat to Canon…? wow

Didn’t know MfT cause Canon to develop R10. Brillant

Just like EM5 Mk3 has 90% of the features of EM1Mk2 at 60% of the price and much lighter,
Hopefully the OM-5 have 90% of the features of OM-1 at 60% of the price and much lighter :)

Yes, and also to prevent MFT users from going to other brands like the Canon R10.

But jokes aside, I am sure any camera manufacturers OMDS included, know that at a certain price point,
new users and experienced users (buy as backup). I was at the Olympus EM5 Mk3 launch in Singapore.
And it's crazy. I think Olympus sold 180pcs EM5 mk3 in a few hours!!!! And some ppl actually buy 2!
Hopefully the OM5 is priced at about the same level of the EM5 mk3, with faster tracking and autofocus.

Good friday folks, OM1 Vs full frame Sony A1. Both have their strengths but om1 does something better, acquiring autofocus on small birds in flight and procapture. Not to mention image stabilisation.

Recently visited 2 second hand / used camera shops in Peninsula.
Noticed a big change.
They have removed all MFT camera bodies and lenses from their glass display.

Probably now they refuse to accept MFT camera bodies and lenses from owners, on consignment for re-sale.
Of course second hand / used camera shops refuse to buy used MFT camera bodies and lenses.
They do not want to buy in used stuff that they cannot resell.

This is indicative of the market forces at work and the overall public disdain for MFT.

There will be a few die hard fans. Who have HUGE Sunk-In costs in MFT from purchases made in distant past.

Richoflex , I don't know why you are trying to convince us the converted rather than the unconverted of which you should start your own thread gathering evidence to the contrary that m43 is a useless digital camera format. Like Jimmy Cheng the OMDS ambassador from UK said that any camera introduced from 2015 onwards can do photography well albeit in varying degrees. Gear does matter of course on the type of photography genre one wants to do. Like a portrait pro said why he uses a medium format camera is because it has better dynamic range and makes for easier post processing. That said so does m43 has certain advantages of size, weight and cost. Jimmy Cheng said his m43 system cost half that of full frame and his clients do not question him about what camera he used to create work that his clients are satisfied with. He also said to use gear that works for you and does not insist everybody use m43. There is no perfect camera.

Second Hand Camera Shops are dying. Years ago, they already refused to take in anything, even my Canon 60D when the 80D was just being released, unless I buy something from them, but all they had are very old stuff, or parallel import models. I stopped visiting Used Camera Shops for many years already. I sold and buy all my equipment here in Clubsnap and Carousell.

And Ricohflex, it is useless ranting here on the disadvantages of OM. All of us here chose OM for some reasons, which you seems to be blind to. Just chose what you like to use. Huge Sunk in costs in MFT? Hah.... my son's Sony A7R3 with 3 lenses already costs more than my OM System with 7 lenses. Plus over the last 5 years I have already depreciated it at less than $80 per month! If OM is really gone (not likely in the next 2-3 yrs), I will just move and get the next lightest system, maybe Fujifilm. I may just leave my OM gear on the shelf for display and not bother too much about selling it

Thank goodness the initial preorders are delivered with no increase. I was expecting it to go up with the MYR dropping like flies.

Master D Imaging managed to deliver all the pre orders, but not sure when the next batch will be coming in. Was at one of the shops and saw 20+ units waiting for the owners.

Got mine too, here's one of my recent OM-1 shot. Using 40-150mm + MC20. 3 shots focus bracketed and blended in post.

I do hope it's just in Japan though coz of the weakening of the Yen (Vs USD) in 2022 has been drastic. Also means it's a good time to change some Yen and go Japan :). From the list, just the OM-1+ 12-100 seems to increase, so maybe due to the lens pricing and the body price should stay the same...

Wah.... OMDS must be selling well with a lot of back orders. They actually announce price increase!

Sifu, you stacked 3 images, when the waves still shows?

no sifu leh, was just a lazy focus stack (2 on rocks, 1 on sun) actually, should have done a bit more, can see some flaws if u pixel peep :p. ya the waves shows coz shutter speed pretty fast. shot at F8. 1/800s.

So it's a combo like a focus stack. In camera?

My off camera focus stack..
