Olympus TG-2 iHS



The Olympus TG-2 is a new rugged camera with a 12-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a 25-100mm equivalent zoom lens with an f/2
maximum aperture at the wide end. New to the TG-2 is a telemacro mode which, when combined with a subject distance of 1cm, effectively
turns the camera into a digital microscope. Waterproof to a depth of 15 metres, shockproof to a height of 2.1m, freeze proof to -10°C and
crushproof to a force of 100kg, the Olympus TG-2 is FlashAir compatible fortransferring password-protected images to selected smartphones
and social networks. Other highlights include GPS tracking, Full HD movie capture and video recording at up to 240 frames per second.

My Quick Review

Pro
- Fast Start-up (<1 sec)
- Large aperture f2 allows me to take low lighting environment
- Very close-up macro
- Great quality of 12 megapixel
- Lens is located at the center
- Interesting 11 Magic Filters to play with, esp. the mirror reflection
- Super wide angle 25mm is useful for landscape
- GPS able to tell the location of the place
- Built-in flash give accurate exposure for fill-in
- Tough and Rugged, suitable for all kind of weather
- Take up to 400 photos for 1 full charge of battery
- Has aperture option to select f2 and f8

Con
- Slow shut down
- No lens cap to cover the lens
- No RAW
- HDR only 3 megapixel

Hi Megaweb, would like to ask how is the aperture priority mode? Were you able to adjust the ISO & Ev compensation in this mode? Thanks.

I got TG2 when it first launch about 2 mths ago image quality like mobile phone standard for a S$500+ cam image quality is disappointing but for a shock proof camera its very good, I sold off after a week
