Oly C-3xxxZ confusing models

from dpreview.. there are C-3000z, C3020z, C3030z, C3040z

3030 is discontinued as the page stated. Why? esp. when 3000 and 3020 is still available why 3030 is discontinued?

which is the one that is available in Singapore at the moment? C3040z should be the improved/latest model isn't it?

The 3030 came out first. Then came the 3000, which was a stripped down version of the 3030. This was followed by the 3040, which was an upgrade to the 3030 with a f1.8 lens. Finally, came the 3020, which was an upgrade to the 3000.

The Cx040Z series all share the same fast lens F1.8 property. You will notice that C2040Z, C3040Z, C4040Z all have F1.8 lens, except for the Mega pixels difference.

The C-3020z (also called the C-3100z in some countries) is abt 1 yr old only...it has a F2.8, 3x optical zoom lens, 3.3MP and has built-in noise reduction.

mine is C3020....which is the latest C3xxx series...and C3040 is also going to discotinue.....and then among all C3040 is the best i suppose....but i'm very satisfied mine

C-3040z is a bit hard to come by nowadays...and those looking foe higher MP might find the C-2040z 2.1MP inadequate.

More readily available in the mkt now is either the C-3020z or C-4040z....both have fast lens (the C-4040z is faster at F1.8) and both have full set of manual controls + noise reduction + use AA-size batts.

Only shortcoming is the 128MB limitation on the SM cards (when r those #$@* 256MB SM card coming???).

The C-3040z advantage over the C-3020z is its faster F1.8 lens vs the F2.8 lens on the C-3020z. Has better low-light ability....

yes, the f1.8 is better than f2.8 of 3020....but i heard that 3040 is cannot maintain its aperture of f1.8 when it use zooming but more function like can put on external flash, controller....and others...therefore why it's selling $1000++
