The July 1997 issue of the UK magazine 'Buying Cameras' contains an article
entitled 'The best 35mm cameras ever' in which they published the results
of a survey of over 200 of the UK's leading photo experts including
photographers, camera manufacturers and dealers. They were asked to vote
for their top five 35mm cameras and the results were used to produce a top
20 list.

The list was as follows:

20th Pentax LX
19th Canon F-1n
18th Leica I
17th Leica III
16th Nikon F90X
15th Canon T90
14th Pentax PZ-1
13th Nikon F3
12th Nikon F4
11th Nikon F2
10th Pentax ME-Super
9th Olympus Trip 35
8th Canon EOS 1n

The ME Super ranks above the LX. What were they thinking?! In my opinion, the Most Ridiculous Results award should go to this survey. No, not just because the ME Super ranks above the LX......

Haha. alot of same opinion was voice out in the newsgrouptoo. I think the survey was meant to be "best" camera of it's time rather then comparing one against another or competiting features. That is why u see many different classes of model or old and new cameras there.

So you see Olympus Trip 35 there too. These are classic many love and has soft spot for.

One thing for sure, though, is that the ME Super is definitely more popular with the average consumer than the LX. Just look at eBay! Interestingly, the MX and Olympus OM-2 isn't in the list. I thought these 2 were also extremely popular.

Ya. I wonder so too.

OM-1 when it was released made waves among the photographers of her time, because of it's compactness and system support. Looking at the OM system then the lens and system range was as diverse as the Canon EOS system now.

That was why a lot of OM users were disappointed when Oly discounted the OM system.

It's still one of my fav cameras now, although I don't use it. Keeping it for posterity.
