just say i want to go to navy for ns..can apply or not or must cross finger hope i get selected out of random chance?

and safsa....how to get in ah? like maybe rowing or something

can any lau cheow please enlighten me..thanks

cross your fingers and pray. safsa, ask someone who is already inside to rope you in.

no, u dun have a choice (heehee... sorry lah). its up to the great computer in CMPB to decide ur fate. also, no guarantee to go safsa even tho u're a sportsman. cos, if ur area of sports is not supported by safsa.... even if u're in some sport which is offered by safsa, u still have to go thru BMT and all the stuff. if there's a selection for ur sport by safsa, they will publish it in ur unit's RO. then u can request (nope, its not ur right to go...) to go for the selection.

i am now in SAFSA...playing squash...how to get in, u ask. Simple....two ways....

1) express method - get and introduction, coach pulls u in....
2) long method - play for camp, play for unit....u win, SAFSA recognises u and pulls u into watever team

for rowing...i got a fwen in the dragon boat and the canoeing team currently.....

regarding navy...u cross ya fingers and hope... the only sure way to get in straight is to go for diver's selection...then u cfm diver....else u wait for letter...if u get one posting u to tekong..its harlow green and bye bye navy and air force....

anyway...its a poor combination u have there....there are close to no navy and air force players on my team..... reason being its more difficult to attach out from these two metinks.... there is supposedly one diver on the squash team...buten...i have never seen him at any training for 1/2 year....wat do u tink ya chances are man...

if you want navy or airforce, you can sign on after your bmt, provided you qualify for OCS if you wanna be a naval officer or for airforce, Pilot, WSO or Air Engineering Officer.

There are also other specialists vocation for navy or airforce.

sign on navy lor... haahaa.... good money.... trainee take home 1.7k iirc.... pass out go onboard get about 2.1k.... 3sg 2.5k.... woohooo... mai tu liao.... go cmpb sign now... ur bmt will be at sembawang or changi...navy bmt relax one... haahaaa.... dun expect navy to be very ez life lor.... most of the jobs r mentally stress... haahaa... paper tests after paper tests....

I assume u're quite young... Pre-NS enlistee...

Navy for NS? Dude, I want to get posted to Navy or Air Force for my NS last time oso. But den I eventually landed as a bloody ground trooper. :bsmilie: Ur fate lies with the almighty computer in CMPB UNLESS... U choose to sign on as a Navy or Air Force personnel (which, I must say is outrageous, juz to get the vocation of ur choice which coincidentally happened to one of my buddy who signed on as an Ammo specialist juz to get out of Armour...)

SAFSA? Hmm.... Like wad most ppl say, either thru friend's recommendation or (if u're not those who likes to pull strings to get places) go thru the long way of playing for company, playing for battalion, playing for unit and eventually get recognised which I must say, takes a long time since there are almost like a quarter-million soldiers in SAF.

yah...still got some time actually... going in next year but i kan cheong abit..haha...dunno why...

thanks anyway guys!

it's still possible to be in the navy even if you don't have any background in mechanics or stuff like that right? at least for ns...was looking at the job description....most require you to have a cert in mechanical something or engineering something...

actually it is possible to choose to go into the navy.....i know i did.... :D

originally posted to tekong camp 3, 2 weeks into my BMT, my pc approached me, asked me if i wanted to try out for the navel diving unit.......so i went......passed the medical and fitness requirements.......
said bye to all the dust and mud of tekong and hello to the sand and mud of sembawang......

so its is possible to switch from the army to the navy midway......
few of my fellow divers were even in the airforce for a short period, they signed up for the pilot recruitment drive or something, got 6 mths off the navy and became air force personnel for the 6 mth training period....even had the pay increase for that period.....
