Rather you use AVG - Free .. norton is full of security flaws.

Recently upgraded via their website for 60S$ (+ the cost of a CD to make a backup of the exe, just in case my computer crashes some day in the future).

$60 eh? ... scary ... once used NAV ... it let the viruses slip through.. don't think its worth it these days as there are other better ones around.

I've got the 2005 internet security solution (for which the upgrade btw was 60S$). I Like the firewall and don't believe there is a full proof virus scanner. Until now managed to keep things clean (also after double checking once and while with scanners of their competition).

Anyhow don't consider myself a guru on this subject a few links for those who want to make up their own mind :)

Hmm ok .... i've encountered one-too-many problems and "exploits" for NIS - NIS itself is a big hole. Currently feel that norton is simply bloatware.

Problem free running, one for now simply doesn't need to fork out big bucks. Simply 3 softwares:

1. AVG Antivirus - Free
2. Sygate Personal Firewall - Free
3. Adsoft AdAware - Free.

NAV not very good..the other time i used some other nameless AntiV software and it coult detect a threat but norton didnt ;p

where to get all these for FREE?

is it for trial, just scan only or really for free?

got a long of all these software found on the net which will only scan but not cure for u until u paid - dunno whether to trust or not?

For me, Platinum Internet Security 2005 is a better alternative.
It uses less system resources compared to Norton Antivirus 2005 and no rebooting is necessary after the virus definition is updated

i think shd be the same... only think is academic version, similar to MS office...

I'm using Avast, from www.avast.com. You can get a free copy of Home edition, just register your email will do.

No complains so far. :)
