hi guys

i've gotten a 320GB replacement harddisk for my iMac G5.

is it better to leave the entire harddisk as one chunk, or will performance be better if i partitioned it?

thx

Hi Stereobox:

Personally I feel that it is always good to partition the hard drive.
It comes in handy when you need to reformat your hard drive.

Yep, i concur with Silence Sky.

Normally, it is wise to partition your hard drive if you do not have extra external hard drive
to back up your working files.

If anything happens to your Mac OS, you can always reformat it and leave the partition alone, working files intact.

Of coz, if you have an external hard drive...lagi better lah.

Never trust hardware so much....it will fails you when you least expected and need the working files urgently.

Backup, backup and backup.

;) ;)

What an ID you have got for yourself.

thx folks!

based on the suggestions i've received, i've made the decision to use it as one chunk, as i figured i won't be reinstalling the OS anytime soon. and use the original harddisk i took out from the iMac as external backup ;-)
