French conceptual photographer Etienne Clément will be conducting a talk during the Noise Singapore 2011 festival showcase. He will speak about his career, which began in architectural photography, and how his practice evolved into his current “macroworld” photographic series involving the creation of “other” worlds and narratives with aging toys against backdrops of dilapidated buildings. Etienne’s work has been exhibited in galleries across Europe, including the Magda Danysz Gallery in Paris. Limited seats available.

Where: Alliance Francaise Theatre
MRT: Newton
When: 17 Feb 2011, 7.30-9.30pm

“CREATIVE PLAY” – PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP BY ETIENNE CLÉMENT (2-Day Workshop)
Some people build structures in creative play, others build stories. Workshop participants will be tasked to produce a photograph where both types of play are weaved together in a ‘macroworld’. Participants will first gain hands-on experience and knowledge in creating a macro 3D world. Once captured on camera in a 2D image, they will see their own created spaces radically altered, disrupting the viewer’s perception of what is real. Limited seats available.

Where: Goodman Arts Centre, 90 Goodman Road
MRT: Mountbatten
When: 19 & 20 Feb 2011 (Sat & Sun), 9am-5pm
Admission: $20, registration required.
