Really no mood today as hard disk crashed and all my hard work photo gone....
The hd couldn't even detected during bootup. Anybody encountered this?
How much it cost for data recovery?

it's recoverable. my friend's bro is working in one of the service shops in sls. haha maybe around 40? or 30? not really sure. good luck. i understand. my friend's hdd also with me and failed to boot up.

Hi Koelsch,

Which shop in SLS? 30 or 40 shouldn't be a problem... much better than those professional recovery centre charge hundreds dollar...

Suspect PCB board problem as didn't hear any machanical sound....
Just replace the PCB board and you should be able to recover the data.
What is the brand and model number of your hard disk?

Just wonder whether there is this kind of service in SLS?
My hard disk is Western Digital 1600JB

As long as it's still spinning it can be recovered.

Seems that there's a lot of such cases around... I just kena 3+ weeks ago, then redstone, now u. I know how u feel man.

Another WD HDD down...
Aiz...

I have:
1 Western Digital 80 GB
1 Maxtor 40 GB
on my table as paperweight now.

Oh, and 5 Seagate HDDs in my casing...

.

Do you have the exact model number? It's on the hard disk.
Can take a picture of the PCB board?

Contact ADVANTECH Peripherals +6282 0555 - if they can't recover your data then there is no charge. Very professional - we recently sent them a disk from work for recovery and they went as far as sending it to their lab in Canada - couldn't recover the data so there was no charge.

bingo

but not spinning also can recover:)

Back up back up, and back up everything. Twice I was too lazy to back up and the cost were in 4 digits. Becareful of recovery services, as long as they do not open the casing, they probably would not do any additional damages.
