It will be crazy to wage an all out war. Think about it, S Korea is 1 of the richest in Asia and have strong economies. To go to war will be destroying all they have achieve in the past decades. Besides, Seoul, with over 20m ppl is very close to N Korea. North's arty can easy hit and devastate Seoul. N Korea's standing army is about 1 million strong. A very big number!

Erm...China buddy buddy with N Korea. N Korea is like their little bro.

No, N Korea is China's b!tch, just like Burma. China's like the master of puppets, and by controlling its b!tches is how they keep the balance of power in the world in check. Classic geopolitical management really, nothing wrong with it.

South Korea has not much choice other than to make noise and tahan, as its got much much more to lose.

South Korea sure got support from Big Brother leh...

Interesting article
It says " no other explanations, therefore it must be N.Korean ".......
how would you react if some country try this with us...?

A report by investigators, including experts from the United States, Australia, Britain and Sweden, said: "There is no other plausible explanation (other than a North Korean torpedo)."

Even though SK doesn't choose to go to war with NK, NK has threatened "all out war" in response to any form of punishment they should receive for this incident.. including sanctions imposed.. Let's see how the matter can be resolved without any violence.

Korea, Bangkok, EU crisis, China & USA, global warming... 2012 :S

A brilliant man will find a way to avoid War.

Both China & USA wouldnt want a '2nd Korean War'. NK's ally with China and SK's with USA. Although SK has its own military but the military power is in USA's hands. If USA say 'No War', President Lee wont wage a war despite the displeasant feeling of the South. In genaral the South is divided into ''no war'' and ''pro war'' faction.

NK on the other hand, wouldnt want China to take sanctions against her as well. China also well know that US is on SK side and might no even have a stalemate in the would-be "2nd Korean War", so China would tell NK to avoid war, or else sanctions from China would follow too. If NK still wanna go on a all out war, ''Kim's government'' would be replaced by another able person.

For US, snactions against Iran might turn into a war on Tehran vs US, and if NK starts a war, US economy would fall even more, knowing war on 4 fronts (Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran & NK) are impossible. Given the situation in middle East, US is not stupid to open a war in Asia too.

In short, 4 sides would not go on war, well knowing the world situation wont allow.

good analysis. i'm personally also quite sure there wont be a war. too much at stake.

sk, america, the angmohs all currently dun have the money either. especially wiht the euro crisis, and the previous year before recession.

as for china, i doubt they would wanna wage war. it would certainly dampen their economy that is growing. especially considering several major companies pulled out, such as google. even microsoft has officially declined to step in and fill google's gap.

well. we will MAYBE. just perhaps. get to see some shot equipment by north korea at south's loudspeakers. perhaps tats the most.

apart from that, nah. not war any time soon i guess:think:

Yah, at most will be small skimishes. If NK and SK started an all-out war, then the next thing we know, we would be using sticks and batons as weapons for WW4 :)

I also forget to add, US is still fighting a war on Iraq (on accusations of Saddam having WMD) and Agfhanistan (Taliban, terrorism), knowing on the first hand they thought it would be swift and decisive. As these countries have 3rd world army, it is 'easy'. But NK has the world 3rd largest army (I think), even if NK is backward in military technology, the US would dtill have a hard time fight against this NK military as NK is no Iraq and Agfhanistan, unlike the latter 2, NK processes nuclear weapon.

Also with the amount of world debt US is facing, war is unlikely and unpopular among US citizens. Look at the link below, see how much taxes an average US ciitizen has to pay in his/her lifetime.

Luckily, our Singapore taxes is not that high afterall :)

well... more updates on china's side.

seems like china has declared that they will side whichever side was NOT the one tat blew cheonan up. but still they havent said its Nkorea. seems like they want their own independent study of the case.

once they officially takes side, Nkorea is in for a lot of trouble.

Imagine how it feels to be a border guard overlooking the 38th parallel (on the south korean side)....very tense.
