Nikon Rumour: Nikon 28 F/1.8 G

24mm is a much more useful focal length than 28mm for me.

Yes, best if they have afs f1.8 lens for the 24mm & 35mm (to replace the f2 for FX). It will be like what they did for the 85mm, as cheaper alternatives to the f1.4 counterpart. If the quality & performance of this 28mm is something like the afs 85 f1.8, it will be quite attractive & worth buying.

OMGosh! I would want one too!

Although, having lived with a 24-70 for so long - I do wonder if I'd get back to the 28mm perspective...

Also, wondering if it'll cost less than the 35/1.4.

Hopefully at the 85mm f/1.8G price of US$499 ~S$600...

YES! +1 LIKE!

A 24mm f/1.8G (dx or fx nevermind)!

If Nikon is really launching a 28mm f1.8, why would they also launch a 24mm f1.8? Don't make sense economically no?

I will quee over night to get my hand on it if they really release it.

Really need to update their 24 / 28 mm afd lens ..

Yay for inexpensive (hopefully!) wide angle primes!

Yes it does make sense, because there are people who prefer 24mm over 28mm.

24 or 28mm doesn't really matters to me, i just want one that is affordable, good quality wide angle lens and hopefully, it has close focusing ability too.

MFD s very important factor for this. The 24mm F/1.4 totally swoon me over last weekend...

Ermm... Nikkor has a 35mm f/1.4g, 35mm g/1.8g dx,; 85mm f/1.4g, 85mm f/1.8g; not to mentioned a few 50mm f/1.x g... So y not 24mm f/1.4g; 24mm f/1.8g?....

Its to cater different market segement and different shooting needs. If they gonna penetrate the market, they manufacture affordable f/1.8g lenses. (not to mentioned, the trend is, the af-d are updated to af-s.)....

In anyway. Rumours only right? :) not 100% accurate. Iirc nikonrumours mentioned, af-s 105mm f/2 vr (update of af dc 105mm f/2d?),and some 70-200 f/4? Or something??
Let just cross our fingers, and wait.... :)

? He said it doesnt make economical sense for nikon to made 28mm (if nikonrumors is 100% accurate), and a 24mm.?

So if theres already has a 24mm, 35mm, imho I feel it dont make economically sense for something in between, 28mm. Instead it make more sense for a 24mm f/1.8g (cheaper alternative than the 24mm f/1.4g).

Look the range of af-s primes; 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm.... ;-)

Anyway just my few cts worth...take my comments with a bag of sea-salt... :)

All those in favour of 24/1.8G say "aye"....

I agree with the lot here, 24mm is a lot more useful than 28. You can still crop from 24mm whilst with 28mm you gotta have enough room to move backwards (28 to 24 is quite a few steps).

Those who shoot certain "events" on a weekly basis will know for certain -28mm a bit cannot make it at times.
