more like a competitor to the canon s95. the xz-1 has a much faster lens at the long end and a hotshoe.

its quite sad that the P300 does not have RAW. and the sensor is smaller that that of the S90/95.

But it's f4.9 at 100mm, which is hardly fast. The LX5 has f3.3 at90mm, which is more than a stop faster. It's a shame because that fast aperture is more needed at the tele end. IMO the "fast aperture" thing is just a marketing gimmick, they never really thought of where people need the fast aperture.

specs-wise, it's definitely not up to the bar set by s95/ lx5/ xz-1.

however, at the estimated price, it may move people away from some of the lower end compacts.
