Try both cameras. See which feels more comfortable for you.

Both cameras can satisfy most requirements for normal users.

MP dun think too much into it. I think it doesn't affect much.

Think far Think long term.

Lens are also something u haf to take into consideration other than JUST the body.

Just my humble opinion. All the best !

For me, I took the Canon 350D for less noise at higher ISOs of 800-1600. Others might say that the noise gives the photo character.

I bought the grip with my cam and it really changes the handling by leaps and bounds. Overall, I'm quite happy with my 350D. Kit lens are not as good as the D70s kit lens, so you might need to fork out more $ for a better lens. I bought the Sigma 18-50 f2.8.

But if you can work with f5.6-8 with the canon kit lens, you can probably get some decent photos

If you are those who do indoor/night events....you've gotta PP lotsa photos...
But from the above quoted sentence,it seems that you are favouring Nikon right?so just get it:thumbsup:

Appreciation of noise is quite personal, I would rank KonicaMinolta's (5D or 7D) just under Canon.

Canon isn't tops in noise performance as well.

Judge for yourself.

The link from unseen is good. kudos to unseen.

FYI, the 350D is also known as Kiss Digital N in certain parts of the world.

Depending on the budget
Cannot say Nikon or Canon
Depending on the model

Canon 350D + Sigma 17-70/18-50 f2.8 --> low noise, f2.8 at 28mm, sharp, fast
Nikon D50+ Nikon 18-200 VR --> low noise, but only 6MP, but good range
Nikon D70s --> high noise, not so "Nikon" in terms of vividness of color, ok lens but still < Sigma 17-70mm

Okay lah... I also contribute my 2 cents worth....

1. go check with your friends and see what camera they have.
2, try to find friends with high end lens and is not neow.(stingy)
3. see what brand of cameras they use

buy that brand which they use... .. then next time you can borrow lenses from them....

actually i second that..

it's not about being a leech.. if most of ur friends use the same system, any problems u have, or if u wanna try out something b4 buying etc, u can approach them to test out and stuff. also if u end up shooting for money, these pple will be ur "back up" in case of equipment failure.

in a bunch of close friends, sometimes i keep lenses from other pple for ages and totally forget, as is the converse... which reminds me.. where's my 70-200VR????? it's not in my dry cabi...

I'm also choosing...

Canon bodies have a better low noise sensor at higher ISOs
but
Nikon bodies have auto ISO... set ur Tv and Av and den just let camera decide which ISO is the best for your current lighting situation... good for night action shots?

haven't bought my DSLR yet but I'm most probably going Canon since they have lots of adapters for lenses with other types of mounts... My dad was a Pentax ME Super user...
Anyone knows what mount is that? Is it the Pentax K?

yup, i agree on that too...

currently got a friend who owns a D200 and a couple of lens trying to convert me into a nikon user, tempting me with his lens haha...

It will be quite economical if we are able to share lens
