Anyone know when will the latest new model70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR III ultra fast zoom lens will be launched.

Best wishes

Kenneth

I read somewhere just a rumours want to know how advance is the next coming lens

Well the only caveat with the VR ii version is the focus breathing at near minimum focus distance & VR ii. Other than that it's a very good lens.

Perhaps the VR III version will be sharper, works better with TC20III & of course with VR III for 5 stops of vibration reduction. With minimal or no focus breathing at MFD.

I haven't read about any rumours for a new 70-200mm f/2.8 VRIII though.

Wait and wait, even after VR3 launch, rumours of VR4 will surface, then wait for VR4... Have fun waiting for VR(n) then~

Are we gear collectors or photographer leh? heh

BTW, wanna know how good VRIII is...try the 70-200mm F4. Also the 70-200mm F2.8 VRII has been around way looooong time and there are millions of shots taken that's are amazing. Anything more will only be incremental improvements.

Ok, almost a year already ... :dunno: :bsmilie::nono::)

Honestly it is not without irritation whenever a post "when the new xx-yyy mm zoom will be released?" comes out.

Perhaps not today...

Few days back the US price for the current model dropped by US$300.

New lenses release lately were "E" models - e.g. Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR was recently released.

"The “E” designation after the aperture on this lens designates electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism, which basically eliminates the aperture lever on the back of the lens and provides very precise control of the lens diaphragm." Link.

(Comment in relation to mechanical non-E lenses)"Since the mechanical lever is physically triggered by the camera, this mechanism must be extremely precise and accurate in order to yield consistently accurate brightness and desired depth of field. However, when shooting continuously in high speed, it is often impossible to yield consistent results, since the mechanical lever might not have enough time to go back and forth quick enough." Link.

Since the rumoured D5 is "due" in January 2016, and is said to be a speed demon (that can match Canon equivalent), it makes sense that the new 70-200mm f/2.8 will be an "E" lens to facilitate this high speed target for D5. Since the bread and butter lenses for Pros are the 24-70 and the 70-200 f/2.8, and the 24-70E is already out...

I say, even with the lack of rumours, the new lens is going to come out soon - my bold assertion is: announced together with D5. Probably guarded as Nikon has large inventory (of current model) to disposed off (hence the hefty discount?).

If you must have the latest and the greatest, please wait. If you want to have a bargain lens (buying use or new VR2), please wait. If you must have the tool for an important shoot, rent the lens (or buy the lens if the jobs pays it back quickly).

Yeah use what's avail or wait.... :)

New 70-200 could be the size of god knows... ready for an upsize ?

There is a reason for the 24-70 VR to have an 82mm Filter.... Its called the Nikkor 16-35mm f/2.8E AF-S VR N ;) ;) ;) . ( Maybe with the D5 ;) )
