Nikon D70 Newbie Outing

Any idea how to prevent and what kind of setting will cause such effect.. :dunno:

When you shoot at 18mm, set the aperture to something like f4.5/f5.6 or smaller and the light fall off will be reduced. There is noticeable light fall off at f3.5

with UV filter and polariser filter and plus zoom, will have the corners right?

Thanks for explaining. I will try higher than f3.5 next time.
The reason I asked about the hood is coz I heard some D70 user encounter the same problem with the kit hood.
I have stop using the hood now. So, if I use higher than f3.5, it would not happen,right?
how about the suggestion from Yeo, does it helps with filter.

No worries. Actually I recommend you to always use the hood (unless you are using the internal flash and you are shooting wide angle shots) as I have found no problems using the hood.

What Yeo is talking about is getting dark corners from stacking too many filters. If you stack too many filters on and shoot at wide angle you get what is called vignetting - the corners of the image will be quite dark - much darker than what you get from light fall off.

From your picture, you can see that the light fall off is quite minimal.

newbie to clubsnap. i've used s1pro, s2pro, d1, d100, canon d30 b4 for work, now i juz got my own d70, wanna try it out

Great help! i will try again. Think you are right, when I took a landscape photo, i saw it at four corners. I will try next time.
