How do i adjust the Shutter Speed in Nikon D5100 ?

you can only adjust shutter speed in manual mode, shutter priority mode, flexible program mode, the default dial to adjust the shutter speed is main commend dial
please refer your camera user manual for details information, if you don't have the manual, you can download it from Nikon website.
