Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 or Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8?

Just worried about the 18-35 zoom range being too short for event photography as compared to the 17-55

From the latest reviews and comments, I would definitely purchase the Sigma.

Actually i got the sigma 17-50 but tempted by this 18-35 after seeing the review. Wonder if it make sense to get both? haha.

Since the 18-35mm f/1.8 is a DX lens, equivalent FoV is 27-52.5mm in FX

In a nutshell, it is not too short unless you are talking about long range candid where anything above 70mm comes into mind. If you are the main / only / designated event photographer, chances of taking candid from long range can be very limited and there is no need to be concerned.
