hi guys!

just want to ask some of your opinion. i'll be buying some lens pretty soon....im torn between the Nikkor 55-200mm VR and the 18-105mm VR....

do you have anything to share and enlighten me for my pick of choice....??? im using a Nikon D5000 with its kit lens....

hope to hear from you...
thanks a lot guys!!!

55-200 lens is a better complement to your current kit lens, unless you absolutely have no intention to capture images beyond 105mm focal length.

why do you need to buy another lens? your current kit lens limiting you in any ways?

Whats the purpose of you getting those lens?
i believe each lens has its specific purpose. though i dun own one but i think 18-55mm is a pretty decent lens. despite restricting you on the tele ends.

if you wan something for a good all round, i suggest getting the 18-200VR instead. firstly it covers quite a range, its light(good for travel) and the IQ isnt bad at all.

when i first started, i didnt exactly know what kind of photography i wan to go into. the 18-200 served me pretty well. but now that i know what i have interest in, i'm planning to change my setup to wide angles and wide aperture lens. (landscape/events)

hope this helps.. cheers! :)

go for the 55-200... since you have the 18-55... but be aware since 55mm is not wide enough compared to 18mm so you will change lens most of the time... if its not a big deal, then 55-200 would fit you best =)

Using 18-105mm most of the time and 55-200mm sits in the dry box all the time (have yet to bring it out, but then I'm just a new D5000 user). Don't know what you're using for, so won't know what to advise you also.

Or get a 24-120. good enought for me.

If I had the 18-55mm VR kit lens already, I'll go get the 55-200mm VR to complement.

+1 on tt, get the 18-105 only if r lazy to lens chg and can make do with compromising on the longer end reach. (105mm-200mm)

If you are lazy to change lens (like me...;)), can sell off your 18-55 and get the 18-135 depending on what you are shooting...my 18-105 is enough for my shooting. maybe only about 10% of the time I find it zooming not far enough.

I think it's a wise choice to keep the 18-55 which u might need it in future, get the 18-105 from B&S section where people sell their kit lens from d90. I'm happy with the 18-105 when using as walk around as a newbie

Get the Nikkor 70-300 VR or 80-400 VR if you need the reach. It all depends on what kind of photos you usually take.
