Night Macro Photography II

Once again, while everybody was sleeping, I went into the forest at night with a few Bros to take macro photos.

After trying out the EF 50mm f1.4 lens to shoot macro, I decided to try another lens which is the EF 85mm f1.8 lens to shoot macro. EF 85mm f1.8 is a well known lens for taking portraits. But I'm using it for macro, that sounds interesting, isn't it?

All photos below were taken by EF 85mm f1.8 + close up filter.

3 different species of spiders.

To my surprise, a small toad appeared. Quite an ugly fellow.

USM, no snakes and bird last night har? You broke the record as the only know person here to shoot wild bird using a 50mm lens close up.

Last night series is good. so yr test on the closeup filters is good, well worth the $$$. you stake both?

I was using the Canon + Hoya close-up filter. MFD is very close, approximately less than 6cm. Therefore, you can't use this setup to shoot dangerous insects such as centipdes, etc.

Yes, I did not manage to find any bird, gaint centipde and snake yesterday night.

In fact, the EF 85mm f1.8 performs much better than the EF 50mm f1.4 lens.

Yes, I was shooting the elusive short tailed warbler by using the EF 50mm f1.4.
