Showcasing the works of indigenous filmmakers from Australia and New Zealand, Night Cries gives audiences a glimpse of the many unique and diverse stories told by some of the best contemporary indigenous filmmakers.
These artists and storytellers show an uncanny knack for portraying personal stories with a truthfulness that resonates on screen. All films featured in Night Cries have won international awards and have been screened at film festivals across the world to critical acclaim.
Highlights include Tracey Moffatts groundbreaking short film Nice Coloured Girls, which inventively explores the history of exploitation between white men and aboriginal women, and the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner, No. 2 by Toa Fraser, a big-hearted, exuberant story about what it takes to bring family together.
An installation of Tracey Moffatts highly acclaimed Love - an exhilarating montage of classic Hollywood movies about the age-old subject of love - will be presented at the foyer of the National Museums Gallery Theatre from 15 June to 15 July 2007.
