I sort of get the same impression. A number of the images look unreal to me.... Almost like someone did a really good job in Photoshop....

i agree... they remind me almost of drawings or paintings. i get the impression that the pictures were ran thru a PS filter...

but how do u get that sharpness in the first place?

Being a wildlife photog, I don't think it would matter if you use digital or film. You will still have heaps of gear to lug around.

those professionals said that going digital was so much easier than the old method

Not just the equipment
Going digital meant that they could just connect straight to a labtop and edit their images straight there

the old method meant that they had to lug around their "darkroom" everywhere they went
And the rural areas they went to usually had no photoprinting services

Going digital is tons more effective
As photojournalists,speed is the most important factor too. Going digital certainly meant much faster speeds
