Hey guys my set up is D90 with tamron 90mm macro lens.
Bought this lens for takin pics of my amulets.
I am using manual focus but i just dont seem to be able to get a sharp shot.
If its sharp in the centre the edge will not be sharp and vice versa.
Could any one tell me what F number should i use to get a sharp shot.
I am an absolute newbie any advice is kindly appreciated.

If your amulets have the same size, i suggest you position your camera the appropriate distance and then do not touch to anything but the amulets. As denisc said, don't tilt your camera (if you don't have a remote release, you can use your self-timer to avoid vibrations) and pay attention to be absolutly straight to the amulet while taking pictures.

Hi dancool,

as wat dennisc said already... shoot directly perpendicular to the subject. You are suffering from parallex error.

taking photo, especially for macro, depth of field is like taking a slice out of reality.

if your camera sensor is not parallel to the thing you want to capture, you slice slanted. hope you get what i mean. read what dennisc posted, it explains pretty much what this is about.
