Newbie Question on shooting

Hi everyone,

Can any experts give some tips on how to achieve
the "bloom" effect. Is it done thru PS or can be achieved during shooting?

What i'm referring to is this excellent shot here :

There are many ways to achieve the soft effect to various degree. Though the link you referred was done by software, but before software there were already many ways including the use of filters. Here is a thread where many ways have been discussed.

No. It has to be a composite of in-focus and out of focus.

can i say this is the product of simply softening from photoshop? or is there anything else if it were to done digitally?

Don't understand your question nor do I use photoshop. I use GIMP and it is able to do as soft effect by using layers.

don't think so, the soft effect applied too evenly on the picture, not just the trees.
