(1) There is no shortcut in photography, the best thing one should do is to shoot more and practice more, be willing to take critism positively. With that, I am sure you will be doing some good soon
(2) For photography sessions with fellow CSers, you can go to:
Photoshoots / SEEDs / Gatherings / Events Forum
This is the forum where such activities are announced.
Be sure to keep shooting
