I can see you have not been reading... You're using a Nikon camera, thus an F mount lens which are newer can be used on your camera. Go read up on Nikon subforum first.

af 50mm f1.8D... the cheapest new lens that you can get in the market. ;)

woah... friend...
First of all, welcome to CS.
How come you bought a DSLR body without lens, and also without finding out first, what sort of lenses can be used with this body? Seems like you were a bit hasty in that decision to purchase.
Luckily for you, Nikon D50 is compatible with a LARGE assortment of Nikon and 3rd party lenses.
Nobody can recommend you a lens without first knowing a few things:
-budget
-type of photography you like (portraits, landscape, etc)
-you prefer zoom or fixed focal length? If zoom, little bit (eg.18-55), or lots (eg. 18-200)?

It's no use getting a 50mm f/1.8 just because of its low price, if you don't have any need for it.
I think you should read more about DSLRs, lenses, etc. Lots of info on the web, or books in the libraries.
