Read the manual, learn the basics and don't be in a hurry to upgrade.

Seriously..whats the problem? and what advice you need? You sounds like you're so desperate therefore decide to make an account and ask. You can read up the sticky thread and at the same time the online stuff that can be easily goggled.

Thanks for your comment. Anything particular to start practicing on?

Borrow some books or read online to understand ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Then try it out on your camera.

What's your interests? Landscape? Portrait? Street?

Advice? Have fun!

Welcome to ClubSNAP and to digital SLR photography :)
just get familiar with your camera first. You should have some idea about what sort of photography interests you. Go practise shooting your favourite subjects first :)
Can browse the D90 user group thread within the Nikon subforum... read through and see if there are any tips you can pick up.

have fun!

I prefer, shoot till you found mistake & find guide to correct it. But first, get the basis right.

Speaking from experience, it'll be good if you have a friend whose interest is in photography as well and learn the basic from him/her.
Then, u just start shooting whatever tt interests u and learn from there! :)

Have fun!!

Just take your camera out to a place. Make it an open area where you won't get stopped for shooting. Take out your camera. Shoot anything you think can be interesting. Try to make things that are uninteresting interesting. Go home. Look through your photos. Find some interesting ones and start post processing! Feel awesome about it then go on another outing!

That said, if you're unhappy with your shots, find out why and how can you improve, then go and do it. CongratS in your purchase and welcome to the world of dslr

Hi and welcome to CS OhMyYoong,

1. Get to know your camera.
2. Go out shoot more.
3. Review your efforts.
4. If happy with shots, repeat step 2. If not, find ways to improve on your shots, then repeat steps 2 and 3.

Just experiment...go with your heart.

Welcome to Clubsnap and world of photography...at the 1st u should need to noe how does ur camera working and read more article,u can find in google it was help me a lot went I was start my photography...at the 1st u should read up ur manual and understand about shutter speed, aperture, iso and what is the dial button using like M,AV or Tv mode..shoot more and join more outing and learn from the senior on Clubsnap or ur friend :)

Have fun and enjoy

most would advise to read the manual first, but honestly, who can read the manual from cover to cover without wanting to throw it out halfway thru? :bsmilie: so my advise is DOWNLOAD a pdf version of your manual, shoot, and if you need to know something about your camera, open the pdf version and search. its faster. ;)

also, read up on the basics of the exposure triangle first. also on composition, lighting and depth of field. that should get you started and occupied til you know what genre you want to get into. and as ZCA mentioned, you can drop by the D90 sub forum for some tips and whatnots.

have fun!

The following is not going to sound friendly.

It's quite clear you bought the D90 with no idea why you're buying it, else, you will not need to ask this question.

That being the case, just use it as a simple camera. Do a camera reset to put everything into factory default, set the mode knob to P or Auto.

Figure the rest when you wake up one day and feel that a pic can be done differently to make it better. The camera can only do what the mind can imagine never the other way round.

Read photography books n magazines to get idea on what can be done

Read the manual, it's less than 100 pages in quarter A4 sized paper. Taking away the overheads, it's very little left to read. If you can't handle this bit of reading, you cant expect to go further in this or any other undertaking.
