Hi

I'm having some problems choosing between the nikon 3100 and the canon a70

Ive been looking for good A40 offers outthere in buysell but apparently it's kinda hard to find one, so I've decided to get a new cam.

However, I'm not sure whether I should get the 3100 or the A70... Which one do you people think would be more suitable? I want to get a good one 'cos I'll be using it for a long time.

I know there are adaptors out there for A70 and various filters, are there any for Nikon?

Personally I'm more into P&S and macro photography.

Think the Nikon 3100 is very small in size.....
Get that if U want a small compact camera to bring around.....

As for the Canon A70.... think its abit more pro with more options.... Correct me if I am wrong.....
But its bigger than the Nikon 3100....

Think more people went for Canon A70.... but seriously.... it really depends what U looking for in a camera.....

Hope this website can help U get an idea of the 2 cameras's capabilities and relevant information.....

Canon A40 is not hard to get if you know it's value and are willing to fork out the right price.

Go to any camera shop and try out the cameras. Even though you like the functions, you might not like the appearance and feel of it though.

Personally, I will prefer A70. Just do a search in this forum on google and you will finds tons on information from various countries and people about these 2 cameras.

hmm... how much would be a good price for a second hand A40?

$250?

I really dunno.....
Think that should be a good price....
U need to see the condition and the warranty (if any) too....

Yah I see everyone selling at 300 300 300

argh

i sian liao i think get a new A70 better

but why A70 made in malaysia? :what:

a bit scary... wonder how much A70 will be with some accessories...

I think I should get these stuff along with it right?:
1) Rechargeable Batteries
2) Charger
3) 256MB CF Card
4) Camera bag

saw in HWZ buy/sell some quite reasonable offers including accessories. Some sets include the lens adaptor and filters etc
If at least 1/2 year warranty left, the camera itself is worth at least $270-280

1 and 2) Charger and batteries a must: from Eastgear - $30 for Ripvan OEM Charger and $12 for a set of Sanyo 2100mAh 4 batteries. Recommended to get 2 sets with 1 set as backup.

3) 256MB can take around 270 photos, with settings at 3M resolution and fine compression.

4). Lowepro 10AW $15. with space for spare batteries and CF.

However, if you are thinking of using any filter or lens, you need to get the adaptor.

oh yah i left out the adaptor and filters...

2 X +4 closeup filters...

Canon Original 52mm Adaptor will be about $35. OEM ones not out I think.

Hoya HMC 52mm Filter $15.
Hoya +4 52mm $14
+ lens cleaning kit about $20?

there's an offer at HWZ buy/sell of A40 including the accessories and filters..quite good i feel

which one? which offer?

whoa... $450

so high ah... i think you add up all the accessories and let the A40 be $260 also never hit $400...

about $380 i think, if you never contact him, you will never know the results

but GP batteries and powerbank... I think the RipVan better lerh.

it's your choice. it's hard to get a bundle that's perfect to your liking. Get all the stuffs new yourself is the best.

the A40 worth at least $280 i feel, if you keep on offering $260 to those who offered you, then you will be better off getting a new A40 or even someother.

yeah that's why i think i better save up for A70 ;p

prepare for at around $800.
The price of A70 will not drop much soon.
That's why i got an secondhand A40 instead and all the rest of the stuffs second hand as well except for batteries and charger.
