In the recent Pentax meet, I was really "poisioned" by this Pentax offering. And now this new lens ...

Pentax Q w/MS Optical Sonnetar 25mm f1.1 Q by Japancamerahunter, on Flickr

It's a native Q mount as well, so no adapter whatsoever . After the hands-on from zoom3's unit, i can't help but think that this is such a fun camera to bring along with you.

If only they make it a little cheaper.

Wah liew. Limited edition ah? You really got me interested. Hahaha ... THis more beautiful than the OM-D!

I think Warren would be the first! :)

Look wise this is definitely a beauty. If only Pentax used a 1/1.7" sensor ...

Ha ha. I can't afford another one but I think this limited edition silver baby will look really really sexy in the flesh

Zoom's Q really is poisonous... my eyes stuck on that during the last pentax meet...

The lens's an equivalent of 135mm ... Portraiture perhaps?

Just to clarify, the 25mm f1.1 would be the 35mm equivalent of 135mm f1.1 ?

Hmm... If I'm not wrong, crop factor applies to DoF too, but not shutter speed.

Meaning,

25mm x 5 = 135mm FL (35mm equiv.)
f/1.1 x 5 = f/5.5 (35mm equiv.)

But shutter speed will of course be the same given similar ISO and aperture settings...

Sorry if I'm wrong...! :p

Equivalent FL of 135mm and f5.6 DOF for the same FOV, I'd suspect that its still pretty good for portraits.
Light gathering (speed of lens) will be f1.1 which is real good
If it can focus close enough, it will certainly will be good for smaller objects based on my experience with the 18-135 at 135mm (which focuses 30cm and has max aperture f5.6)

DA18-135 at 135mm f5.6

So perhaps a good shallow DOF lens for small objects and head and shoulders portraits.
All depends on minimum focus distance.

Adding to this thread.

More fast lenses.
C mount lenses for the Q.
