ya i using a built in flash.
as for the hood for the lens, when should i use or when should i not use?

For indoor shots, you don't really need the hood except for concerts or events of that nature whereby there are a lot of spot lights from different angles. IIRC, the hood is to help block out unnecessary light which will cause flare.
