New Camera

Some people just change phone (with camera) very 6 months. Every two years can get one camera with phone free also. :)

Just wonder if anyone change camera in any durations say every 3 or 5 yrs

I try to keep my camera changing to every other replacement, so its around a 4-5 years duration between each change. Not only would the improvements be more significant, it helps me to resist temptation from the latest models:bsmilie:

My D70 lasted me 4 years.

My D300s lasted me 2 years.

Nothing fixed.

My canon 600d lasted 6 months or less.

For the past 3 yrs, I changed 1 camera a yr. D90 -> D300s -> D700

Although all my changes is due to irresistible offers...

I changed from d5000 to d7000 in 1.5 years mainly cuz of iso performance. Haha.

Use coolpix 4500 from 2003-2005, D70 from 2005-2008, D700 from 2008-2012 and still using it. Sold D70 at really cheap price and replaced with D5100 as 2nd body. Don't think will change D800 so soon as I have baby to feed now. Quickly upgrade when you are still single and when there is no commitment.

The question is not about the time, but rather the reason. This varies between people. Gear heads will jump for the next models quickly, photographers might use their stuff for very long time.

I guess lens technology is slower and more worth investing on since it has more significant improvement on iq. Glad to say that I have collected most good lens I wanted and I it will last for years.

compact: 2008 - fujifilm s2000hd, 2012 canon g1x

dslr: 2009 - canon 500D. waiting for right time to get 5D3

My first DSLR, the D40, I think lasted 4 months which i sold for a D80.

The D80 lasted about 2 years before I upgraded to a D90. Then I bought the EPL1 and D700 but didn't sell the D90. Nowadays, I think I wana collect them :bsmilie:

Haha I also bought a D80, when D90 came out I resisted the temptation. When the D7000 came out I knew its time for my upgrade.

My first DSLR is a used D40, bought in July 2009. A year later I bought a used D90. I still keep the D40 and I will shoot the D90 till it breaks or I break. :bsmilie:
